suffolk Walks from tuddenham Mill
Tuddenham Mill offers the perfect starting and finishing point for some beautiful Suffolk walks. The Icknield Way, the oldest road in Britain, runs straight through the middle of Tuddenham St Mary. There are several routes you can take to see some of this old Roman road, all of these walks start by turning right out of the hotel gates and walking into the village.
Lots of wildlife to see and beautiful Suffolk heathland. 2.5 miles plus.
On reaching the village green, turn left onto the Icknield Way and follow the road up past the duck pond until it becomes a single track. Keep going until you reach a small car park with a sign for Cavenham Heath on the left. From here you can follow the signs, three different routes through the heath, depending on how energetic you are feeling. No need for wellies if you don't have them as the pathways are good underfoot.
Wellies and wildlife. 2.5-3 miles
Just before you reach the green, as you head into the village, you will see a small sign on the right for the Icknield Way. Take this turning across the fields towards the village of Herringswell. You WILL need your wellies for this walk in wet weather! Herringswell village is at the halfway point; you can then either walk back the way you came or follow the signs along the road back to Tuddenham St Mary. This part of the walk is on a single track road, but is very quiet and peaceful.
