Retreat to Tuddenham Mill this February, as the three-rosette restaurant and boutique hotel near Bury St Edmunds lays on a Valentine’s treat for guests. Here, Chef Patron Lee Bye, explains what awaits his guests during their romantic stay here in the heart of Suffolk.
First of all, we made our Valentine’s offerings flexible because the special day itself falls in the middle of the week. So we’re giving people the whole run of the middle of February to plan when they want to indulge that special someone here at Tuddenham Mill. Whether you want a weekend escape or midweek treat, we will indulge you with our romantic menu and some very special treats.
What can our guests expect? A beautiful secluded room, of course. From a Nook hideaway, with spectacular views of the meadow, to the splendour of our sophisticated and chic loft suites. Enhance your romantic getaway with champagne in your room, petals and a romantic turndown service.
Meanwhile, the Mill will be busy preparing a romantic Valentines menu that starts with local oysters and horseradish aioli, a personal favourite, and a well-known delicacy. Or you could choose the Goosnargh chicken, cooked over coals with Macadamia satay. The exquisite starter will be followed by fillet of Irish beef, green peppercorns and smoked marrow, or you might opt for our very special Highland cod, with thyme dauphinoise and king cabbage. Don’t forget to leave room for the pudding, which you can choose from a stunning passionfruit baked Alaska with walnut caramel or our delicious sea buckthorn doughnuts with chocolate sauce and orange sugar. It’s certainly a menu to fall in love with.
If you’re looking for a romantic tipple to enjoy with your meal, look no further than Gusbourne Vineyard in Kent. They do a great Pinot Noir, and it’s the ideal accompaniment to your romantic meal. In fact, we’ve got several English wines on our AA ‘notable’ rated wine list that are worth your time. Our Bauchet Brut champagne and our Torea Oystercatcher from New Zealand are superb quality and a little special for Valentines.
What better way to wake up than with locally sourced eggs and sausages to set the tone of a relaxed day. After breakfast, why not take a winter walk through the nearby beautiful Suffolk countryside. It’s the perfect way to end your romantic break at Tuddenham Mill.
