The Secret’s Out!

Warm nights and candlelight, wild meadow grasses wafting in a summer breeze, space, sunsets and great food… our alfresco restaurant really has found its way into your hearts. Word has spread and we’re delighted to say that our Secret Garden will be open right through summer.

Join us for half a lobster with aioli and fries, the freshest allotment salads, Goosnargh duck with noodles, pak choi and chilli vinegar, or Lavenham beef brisket with Baron Bigod cheese – all prepared by the Tuddenham Mill chefs and brought to you in a box. Linger deep into the evening over cocktails, local ales or beautiful wine, maybe with salami arancini, crisp taleggio and polenta croquettes, and a box of strawberry and meadowsweet choux buns. We can’t think of a better way to spend an August evening!

Hotel guests are very welcome to book a table in the Mill restaurant where our exquisite tasting menus are served at lunchtime and in the evening, all week.

The Secret Garden is open all week with food served 11.30am to 8pm.

Hideaway and bubble with friends

Do you know our Mill Stream rooms? They’re our lovely little quartet of bedrooms with full-length windows that slide back onto a private terrace overlooking our grounds and the Suffolk countryside beyond.

Together, they’re perfect for a short break with your ‘bubble’ friends or family, and we’ve come up with a summer staycation offer that we think you’ll love. Book all four rooms (up to eight people) from just £260 per room per night, to include dinner and breakfast, and enjoy your very own self-contained space within the luxury of Tuddenham Mill.

We’ll set you up with your own Big Green Egg BBQ, provide a hamper of beautiful prepped ingredients (and a bit of cooking know-how!) and leave you to make a delicious alfresco meal together. Local lobster one evening, perhaps, maybe generous steaks and salad the next. Pop a bottle of fizz or crack open a cold beer as you cook together, and enjoy the warm Suffolk summer night before drifting off into peaceful sleep. We’ll deliver a delicious fresh breakfast to the rooms the next morning. Why not book a longer stay and on one night let our chefs prepare you a beautiful seasonal taster menu in the Mill’s acclaimed restaurant?

Fishing man

We’re all about the ingredients at Tuddenham Mill, whether we’re cooking a beautiful lobster claw pappardelle for lunchtime guests in The Secret Garden, or an exquisite piece of turbot for our tasting menu in the Mill restaurant.

Working closely with Mike Warner recently has been really exciting. Mike pours a lifetime of fishing knowledge and love of seafood into his business, Shore to Shop, working with inshore, day-boat fishermen that he knows well to provide our kitchen with some of the freshest, brightest fish we’ve ever worked with. He’ll let us know when the best hand-dived king scallops and razor clams are in, or beautiful brill from Cornish waters, or the juiciest lobsters and brown crab from his own pots at Felixstowe. Mike is a master of his art, and we are proud to be associated with him. Read his writing, and try his seafood recipes below.
